Spring Community Production of The Hobbit, A Play with Music

Auditions: April 28, 2014   Open call from 4 to 7PM.  Pre-Registration required.
Rehearsal times: Monday’s through Thursday’s 4 to 7 PM.   Rehearsal schedule will be completed once casting and actor conflicts are determined, not all actors will be needed at every rehearsal for the entire duration. All Cast rehearsal Tuesday April 29th for casting announcement, script handout and schedule 4 to 6 PM.
Performances May 30 through June 1st. Rehearsals and production to be held at The First Congregational Church of Williamstown.
Ages: 6 and up

Students in this workshop concentrate on vocal and choreography, after choosing songs ranging from Classics, Broadway, and Top 40 hits. Curriculum includes vocals, choreography, stage presence and performer intentions.

Musical Theatre Workshop

Students in this workshop will select their favorite scenes and songs from the Musical Theatre genre, and will rehearse the scenes and musical numbers from various shows. Curriculum will include character development, intention, voice and movement within the scene and song.

Perfect Pitches Workshop         
Students will learn the basics of harmony, blending of voices and ear training. Strong emphasis on body language, and physical positions while in song. Song selections based on harmonic qualities and will be performed a cappella.

Geocaching Adventure Camp

Geo-what?! Geocaching is a worldwide treasure hunt that utilizes a handheld GPS unit, a good set of eyes and a bit of hiking around.Enter the secret world of treasure hunting. It’s a real-life adventure game where puzzles and challenges await you at each turn of the trail. Did you know that there are geocaches around you right now? There are even geocaches on every continent in the world! Experienced staff will guide you as you learn how to use a GPS for geocaching, make your own geocache, and log it online by giving your “cache” a name, description and hint for others to find. Explore the outdoors as you search for hidden containers and design your own geocaching course. This workshop takes place at The First Congregational Church, located on the Williams College Campus.

Students ages 8-16 from the all Berkshire County are eligible.

This is a 3 week workshop, Monday thru Friday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., from Aug 5th – 24th

The Gleekers Workshop

The Gleekers!

Students of all ages celebrate the vast world of music and choreography. Students select songs ranging from top hits to Broadway goodies and match traditional and modern choreography to the music. Fully costumed and polished, the students present the work at a performance for family, friends and the community.

Workshop classes include, voice, musicality, movement, character, choreography, costuming and make-up.
Workshop will be held August 19th through August 23rd Monday through Friday Noon to 5 PM
Performance will be on August 23rd at 7 PM. The workshop will be held in Fellowship Hall, at the First Congregational Church of Williamstown.
Tuition for the workshop is $150.

Little to Big Presents… The Lion King!!

Students of all ages participate in a musical theatre production of the Lion King. Students in the workshop act, create, and produce a performance that is shared with family, friends and the community. Workshop classes include auditioning, casting, blocking, choreography, scenic, costume and make- up design. Teaching artists and parents are involved in the workshop along with the students to bring a “Little to Big” production to life.

Workshop will be held July 29th through August 16th Monday through Friday Noon to 5 PM

Performances will run August 15th at 7PM and August 16th at 10 AM. The workshop will be held in Fellowship Hall, at the First Congregational Church of Williamstown.
Tuition for the workshop is $450.

The Best of Shakespeare Workshop
Minerva Stage offers a workshop for students exploring the
world of Shakespeare that can be modified to fit every
student’s level of experience with the Bard. Students will
strengthen their skills as they explore the nuances of classic
Shakespearean text. The workshop will include classes in
voice, stage combat, clown, movement, monologue, sonnet and
scene work. The workshop will culminate with a performance
for their family, friends and the community at large.

Meet the Teaching Artists
Teaching Artists Kathy O’Mara and Stacy Highsmith bring years of experience with teaching and directing to the workshop, committed to the success and value of Shakespeare training and performance. Kathy O’Mara has been teaching and directing Shakespeare’s works since 1996. Her favorites include “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, “The Tempest” and “12th Night”. Kathy is Artistic Director of Minerva Stage and enjoys having the benefit of working and living on both coasts.
Stacy Highsmith has spent years teaching children Shakespeare and staging productions such as “Midsummer Night’s Dream” and “The Tempest.”  She loves to see the excitement in her students as they learn to conquer Shakespeare as well as the awe of the parents as they see their children transform into classical actors.

Minerva Arts Center announces the winter/spring workshop “The Gleekers”

Back by popular demand the Minerva Arts Center will be offering its winter/spring session of The Gleekers.

Inspired by the hit T.V. show Glee, students explore dance, song and theatricality ranging from Broadway tunes to modern songs and choreography, instructed by dance instructor and choreographer Nicole Rizzo and vocal teacher Kimberly Rose, this 12 week workshop culminates with two performances on

April 27th, 2013.

Two sessions available, Wednesdays 4PM-6PM or

Saturdays 10AM-12PM

Workshop and performances to held at The First Congregational Church located at 906 Main Street in Williamstown.

Wednesday classes will be held from 4PM to 6PM in the Youth Chapel, and will run January 23rd, 30th, February 6th, 13th, 27th, March 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th, April 3rd,10th, and 24th. Saturday classes will be held from 10AM to Noon, and will run January 26th, February 2nd, 9th, 16th, March 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th, April 6th, 13th, 24th.
There will be a 2PM and a 7PM performance for the public on April 27th in Fellowship Hall.

Minerva Arts Center is proud to announce The 3rd Annual Holiday Showcase, a wintertime variety show that plans to warm the Northern Berkshire melting pot and fill you and your family with holiday cheer from around the world. This year our performers show multi-faceted talent, ranging from soloists, duets, dance, piano, storytelling, a staged-reading, trumpets and flutes, guest appearance of the Minerva Gleekers, and an Illusionist.
